the trip I didn’t take

I never thought I would be one to turn down a travel offer.

The Husband is currently on his way home from a two-week business trip to India.  When The Child was about two weeks old, she & I were invited to accompany him on this trip.  I knew I could very easily live out of a backpack for two weeks, but never having spent much time with, let alone traveled with a 2.5 month old, I wasn’t sure if we would have a good time, and so I passed on his offer.  And now that The Child and I have gotten to know one another better, I am confident that she and I would have enjoyed the trip.  Live and learn, right?

Knowing that I won’t have as many travel opportunities in the near future, I’ve been doing a lot of reminiscing lately. And after having to cancel an out-of-state trip to visit a friend due to bad weather last weekend, I have been quelling my urge to hit the road by revisiting past trips through pictures and memories, and daydreaming about trips I would like to take in the future.

And sitting here, in Chicago, missing both The Husband and the trip we would have had, I am determined to figure out traveling with a baby and to make the most of any future opportunities that come our way.
