building cairns and making friends with sheep

23 June, 2012

After spending a little bit of time in Reykjavík, we hit the road for Akureyri, planning to spend a few days in northern Iceland.

Renting a car wasn’t totally necessary, but because we wanted to run on our own schedule and be able to pull off the road whenever and wherever we wanted, it seemed like the best option.

As we cruised along some isolated stretch of highway 1, we spotted a rocky expanse of land next to a shallow river that was just begging for a cairn to be added to its landscape.  And so we stopped and built one.

The scenery on the road to Akureyri was beautiful, and we made a few sheep friends along the way.
