long weekend in Madrid, Jaén y Granada

14 March, 2011

A friend of our is spending the 2010-2011 academic year teaching English in Jaén, and The Husband’s best friend came out for a visit, so naturally, we had to go spend a long weekend in Spain visiting with them.

I flew into Madrid and met The Husband and  Skiggz at the airport.  They made an awesome sign so I would know who they were and that they were there to meet me.

We checked into our hotel and I became trapped in the bathroom.  The sliding door closed, but would not open.  After the three of us struggled to open the door with no results, we had to call for help.  And it was hilarious.

Help arrived and was able to take the door apart so I could escape, but the door no longer functioned as a door.  And since there were no vacant rooms available, they upgraded us to a really sweet suite at a nearby hotel.  We checked in, headed out for a delicious vegetarian meal, and had an enjoyable evening.

The next day, we had breakfast at a local café and then rented a car to drive to Jaén, picked up our friend, and made our way to Granada.

We spent the evening exploring and having dinner, and dedicated the following day to visiting la Alhambra, and then headed back to Jaén for the night.

This long weekend was a great way to catch up with some friends while taking a whirlwind tour of three beautiful Spanish cities.  I then flew back to Casa from Madrid, got to sleep in the airport, and caught a flight back to Errachidia in the morning.

Good thing you were stuck coming out of door instead of trying to go in! Only you, Sissy.
