Tuesday Lunch

15 February, 2011

Just about every Tuesday, The Husband and I host “Tuesday Lunch” for our friends and family here in Errachidia.

Around 1230-1300, folks gather at our house and hang out while waiting for lunch to finish cooking.  One of our neighbors, Fatima, comes over every Tuesday to make lunch for us and clean up around the house.  She’s a really nice lady, and she’s a damned good cook.

Last month, we decided to make the Tuesday Lunches vegetarian.  A number of people expect there to be meat at every meal, so I used to buy some chicken or beef every week for my meat-eating friends to enjoy.  Now that the lunches are vegetarian, the food is just as tasty, but we vegetarians have more options now, and only one meat-eater has grumbled about the lack of meat.

If you’re ever in town on a Tuesday, you should join us.  Leave a comment or drop me an email for an invite.

I appreciate the invitation. Set the table for one more person next Tuesday. Mother will be flying out to enjoy your company and participate in your great hospitality. Don’t concern yourself with my travel plans. I will be able to nagivate myself to your town. See you then, Mother.

      Come on down!

Seriously though, if you are planning on coming down, let me know in advance so I can make sure that:

      a) I will be here

      b) we don’t have couch surfers staying with us. We have a few groups coming through here, and if I have advance notice, I can tell them that they need to make other sleeping arrangements.
